Privacy Policy
1. What we collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:
- Your email address
- Your display name
- Your Google profile picture URL
- Timestamps of account creation and last login
- The website that referred you to us, if any, recorded once when you first arrive so we can tell which channels bring people here. We store the referring address and any campaign tag in the link, never a browsing history. Nothing is recorded if you arrive directly or from within tickerseer itself.
We also store a signed session cookie in your browser to keep you logged in. No passwords are stored; authentication is handled entirely by Google.
2. Legal basis (GDPR Article 6)
We process your data on the basis of contract performance (Article 6(1)(b)): your data is necessary to provide you access to the tickerseer dashboard.
3. How we use your data
- To authenticate you and maintain your session
- To identify registered users
We do not sell your personal data, and we never use it for advertising or profiling. We share it only with the processors needed to run the service; see §6 on product analytics.
4. Data storage
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on a server located in the EU (Oracle Cloud, Frankfurt region). Data is retained for as long as your account is active, or for a maximum of 2 years of inactivity, after which it is deleted.
5. Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Erasure: request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Rectification: correct inaccurate data
To exercise any of these rights, email support@tickerseer.com. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Product analytics
We use PostHog as a data processor to understand how the product is used and improve it. Analytics are captured server-side only: we do not load a PostHog script in your browser and we set no cookie for this processing. The events we record are limited to account-lifecycle actions (sign-in, sign-out, magic-link request, checkout started, subscription activated), associated with your email address and plan tier. We do not record your watchlists, browsing activity, or any market data you view. This processing relies on our legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) in operating and improving tickerseer; PostHog processes the data on EU infrastructure. You may object to this processing at any time by emailing support@tickerseer.com.
Our public marketing and informational pages (not the logged-in app) use Google Analytics to measure site traffic and understand which pages are used. Google Analytics runs in your browser, and we do not load it until you accept via the cookie banner shown on your first visit (see §7). If you decline or ignore the banner, the Google Analytics code is never requested and never runs, so Google receives nothing about your visit: no analytics cookie, no visitor identifier, and no record of the pages you viewed. Once accepted, it sets analytics cookies that Google uses to distinguish visitors across page views and visits, and collects standard technical and usage data (pages viewed, referring site, approximate location, device and browser type) processed by Google under its own privacy policy. We do not send Google your name, email address, or any account data. You can decline or change your choice at any time via the "Manage cookie preferences" link in the footer, opt out entirely with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or block cookies directly using your browser's own cookie controls.
7. Cookies
We use a single session cookie (session) which is strictly necessary for
authentication. It is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and expires after 7 days of inactivity.
Google Analytics cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_<container-id>) are
only set if you accept via the cookie banner shown on your first visit to a public
page; see §6 above for what that data covers. You can change your choice at any time using
the "Manage cookie preferences" link in the footer.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of tickerseer after a policy update constitutes acceptance.
